How to keep Balancing of Centrifugal fan ?

Today we want to talk about a very important topic, namely impeller balancing.

Balancing of fan impellers is vital because of the impracticality of working with perfect elements. Factors such as uneven mass distribution and diverse elements make balancing necessary. There are two main methods of balancing – static and dynamicStatic balancing involves a single correction plane and is simpler. Dynamic balancing, with two planes of correction, is more complex and time-consuming. While customers often expect dynamic balancing, static balancing may be sufficient for some components.

Let’s learn more about each of them:

Static balancing involves a single correction plane to which the correction weight is attached. The advantage of this method is that it can be identified in the gravitational field, and the added mass is only in one correction plane, which makes it simpler. It can be performed both during motion and without motion if the fan impeller is horizontally mounted on the corresponding shaft.

Dynamic balancing involves two correction planes. It is more complex than static balancing because adding a correction mass in one plane affects the other. Therefore, you need a balancer that calculates the correction mass for the specified points.

Dynamic two-plane balancing is more labor-intensive and complex than static one-plane balancing. It is primarily used in fan impellers, where the height-to-diameter ratio is large and also depends on the rotation speed. Dynamic balancing cannot be determined in a gravitational field.

Depending on the relative position of the axis of rotation and the main central axis of inertia, the following types of rotor imbalance are distinguished

Static – when these axes are parallel. To eliminate such imbalance, static balancing is performed;

Momentary – when the axes intersect in the rotor’s center of mass

Dynamic (mixed) – when the axes either intersect outside the center of mass or do not intersect but cross in space. Both moment and dynamic imbalances are eliminated by dynamic balancing.
